Our internet has been down for over two weeks and I have not been able to post. A lot has happened since I last posted. We are now into our second Painting trip of the year and there is so much to write about I am not sure where to begin. So I might just start with the last two days.
I picked Susan and Michelle up in Nice on Thursday their plane was late because of a nasty storm. I got them home here late that night and woke them early the next day to go on another long trip, we went with many others on a coach trip to Les Baux en Provence to see Chagall’s art work illuminated, projected onto giant limestone pillars in the old quarries there. Truly an amazing experience, along with fabulous opera and then surprisingly an animated projection of Alice’s tumble into the land of giant rabbits and mad hatters tea parties, an odd combination me thinks. I could have just listened to the Opera and looked and the often strange and ugly Chagall paintings, or his beautiful mosaics and stained glass windows. The innocence of the lambs, the virgin Mary, mystical and mythical, huge and enlarged paintings, music reverberating around us. Magical!!
I rather prefer the blown up versions of the paintings they look quite astounding on the pillars.
The worked and worn quarry walls add an extra dimension to the paintings.
Lucy’s divine chestnut and raspberry cake to end this little post. I will be writing more in the days to come.
