And so utterly delicious. My student Alia and I went to Mougins to paint and Alia took me to lunch in a truly wonderful Restaurant, so rather then show you our artwork of today, we were working on perspective which can be a tricky subject, I am going to show you photo’s of our beautiful food.
I know I am not beautiful food, but we had already been given a very tasty langoustine wrapped in filo and baked to perfection.
My beautiful and generous and talented art student Alia. We swapped places for the background. We had just been given these savoury dainties, when another little delight arrived, a crisp courgette flower, with a gently scented creamy goats cheese, and then a miniature ceviche of courgette and gerkins and lemon, quite delicious. Oh yes and that tiny little ball of steak tartare on a little parmesan puff had quite the lemon fool surprise in the middle, and it was seriously yummy.
My starter was scallops lightly marinated in curry with cucumber salad and parsley oil, and roasted cauliflower. Alia’s starter was main course size, so obviously I had to try some of hers as well.
By this time I was already pretty full, but the enjoyment of it all was intense. It is so rare to get really good food in a Restaurant in France at an affordable price. So next is our main course we both had the same.
This dish speaks for itself, totally sublime!!!
We shared the dessert thank goodness!!!! but it was an exquisite and joyful experience. Quite the best Restaurant I have been too in a very long time.
You can imagine that it was pretty hard to settle into painting after that feast. We drove to Valbonne and in a shady corner drew and painted a little of the church, and tried not to nod off int the process. Thank you so much Alia for such a magical day and lunch!
Hi Tess, did the dishes give you some inspiration? My chef daughter sits there and analizes the make -up of the dish before her. We love to eat in good restos. and there are many up here in Haut Var – the size of our pocket dictates how often we can go to them….Looking forward to seeing you in September.
